Our undergraduate residential training programme can be tailored to suit a wide range of situations. You can study at Mattersey Hall for short courses, for a single semester, for a year, for two years or for three years. You can study on a part-time or a full-time basis, and there is even the possibility of doing one semester at an overseas location. All these forms of studying are provided at Mattersey Hall and virtually all of them are validated by the University of Wales.
 For people that already have a degree or the appropriate experience, there is the option of doing a one year Postgraduate Certificate.
Most undergraduate residential students choose to study full time with us for three years. This leads towards a BA or BD degree, which entitles the student to financial support from the government. It also, and perhaps most importantly, gives a significant period of time for the student to achieve a high level of ability and confidence in their chosen vocation. The BA and BD degrees provide a pathway to a range of Masters programmes that the college provides. They also open
the door to vocations such as, for instance, school teaching. Each year a number of Mattersey Hall graduates continue their studies in this way.

 In recognition of the range of vocations represented among our students and the associated skills our graduates will require, Mattersey Hall offers three degree streams: a BA (Hons) in Christian Leadership, a BA (Hons) in Biblical Studies and Theology,
and a BD (Hons).*
The three degree programmes each have their own distinctive focus and learning outcomes. They broadly share a common first year (with the option of Biblical Hebrew for BD students). This enables students to settle into college life, and to work with faculty advisors and the college training department to clarify their abilities and interests before finally choosing a study pathway.
In the first year, students take a range of modules – from ‘Christian Worldview’ to ‘Understanding the Bible’, from ‘Christian Doctrine’ to ‘Lukan Perspectives on Mission’. One of the highlights of the year is a two-week cross-cultural Missions Trip. All first year students have the opportunity to study New Testament Greek. First year BD students also have the option of taking Biblical Hebrew.

The more vocation-driven of the two programmes, it focuses on imparting the skills contemporary leaders need to be successful in local church ministry within the United Kingdom and beyond.
