BTh (Northwest Theological College, Langley, BC) MA (Manchester) PhD (Aberdeen) Senior Lecturer & Director, Donald Gee Research Centre

Dave came to Mattersey Hall in 1996 with vast experience as a missionary Bible teacher. Born in Zambia and educated in Zimbabwe, he worked in plantation management for some time before beginning his ministerial training and theological studies in British Columbia. After Dave’s further graduate studies in New Testament at Manchester, Dave and his Canadian wife Ruth (who also now works at Mattersey Hall) went back to Africa as missionaries in 1973 with the Zaire Evangelistic Mission (now Central African Missions), and spent 23 years in evangelism and training ministries, primarily in Zaire (now Congo).
During their time on the mission field, Dave served as Director of the ZEM Institute Biblique at Kamina, and founded Advanced Schools of Theology in Lubumbashi and Kananga, preparing students throughout the continent for ministry with courses at both BA and MTh level. Dave speaks French, Kiluba and Swahili, and continues to have regular teaching input into a number of theological colleges in Congo and Zambia and travels regularly to teach pastors in Ethiopia. He also now serves as UK Director of Central African Missions.
His diverse expertise academically and wide experience of crosscultural ministry mean he is ideally suited to his role at Mattersey Hall, where he directs the Donald Gee Research Centre and teaches a wide range of subjects (particularly within the area of missions) at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dave and Ruth are involved in the leadership of Reachout Christian Fellowship, Doncaster. They have one son, Greg, who is married with a son and lives in Canada.
