MA (Sheffield)
Dean of Students and Registrar

Steven has an important dual role in the life of the college. As Registrar, he oversees our Undergraduate Admissions Department, taking responsibility for advertising, the application and interview process and for introducing new students into college life. As Dean of Students, he works hard with his Pastoral Team to ensure that the quality of life in Mattersey is as good as it possibly can be for all our students, taking care of them pastorally, arranging chapel ministry and special events, and taking a leading role in the mentoring and development process. He also oversees student ministry outside of the college, an important and growing aspect of his portfolio, and teaches Church History Survey and Early Church History on the BA programme.

Steven studied Business and Finance at University before coming to Mattersey Hall as a student in 1990 to 1993 where he gained the Cambridge Diploma in Religious Studies. He spent 7 years in pastoral ministry in Bristol and Gloucestershire before returning to the college in 2000, initially as Campus Pastor.

As a graduate of our MA programme as well, and with current MPhil research with Birmingham University on the history of the Bible College in British AoG, he is in a good position to understand the needs of our students. Together with his American wife, Deborah, Steven attends Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Thurnscoe where he is Associate Pastor. They have two sons, Caleb and Aaron, and have also been fostering for the past five years with Doncaster Social Services.
